Bitcoin virgin trying to get a sense of the landscape. Is mining even worth my time? I keep getting mixed responses...

Hey there.
I'm a single mom who has been pretty resourceful about generating income. I work three jobs (two from home, one standard "day job") to pay the bills & have a decent amount in savings each month. I like "beer money" projects and have always been interested in the concept of Bitcoin, but never really had the time to look into it properly. Until I, on a random Google whim, wound up looking the Bitcoin to USD ratios and couldn't believe how much it has appreciated since the big collapse. Holy shit. I'm really kicking myself that I didn't invest some of my "beer money" in Bitcoin. Oh well... But it got me thinking that maybe now is the time I start actually giving this a try.
I have a good computer at home that I work on, and I've looked at some of the mining equipment recommended in the various "Bitcoin Mining 101" articles and posts on Reddit. I wouldn't mind investing in one of these pieces of equipment since my computer is on and running all day anyway. I have a very faiaffordable electric bill every month so tacking on 10 or 20 bucks a month wouldn't kill me. From what reading I've done (and tried to understand), mining as a singular computer will pretty much yield me no result but if I enter into a few pools I may be able to generate some weekly small bits.
I'm also considering having one of my two extra jobs pay me in Bitcoin (or rather having my wages converted into Bitcoin). Which is the most reliable place to do this?
I'm also curious which wallet you prefer? I'd prefer something easy to manage on mobile since I'm out and about quite often.

What's the most effective way right now to peg the value of my bitcoin to the dollar?

Working on a project where bitcoin sits in escrow during a transaction which can take a few days. But the transactions will take place in dollar-terms even though the medium of exchange is bitcoin, so we need to be able to hedge the fluctuations in the bitcoin to USD ratio.
Obviously we don't want to go to an exchange to cash on the way in an out. You could short an ETF while that bitcoin was in escrow if one existed and could be shorted. Has anyone tried buying or selling options from deribit?
What's the state of the art right now for pegging BTC to the dollar?

Why Bitcoin is Superior to Gold

There is a constant war being fought between goldbugs, like Peter Schiff, and Bitcoin enthusiasts so I decided to make an outline, with links, comparing and contrasting gold and Bitcoin. I made this in November of 2019 (thus the information therein is based on figures from that time) but, being scatter brained, neglected to post this for the Bitcoin community to see. The yardsticks I used to compare the two assets included the following: shipping/transactions costs, storage costs, censorship factor, settlement time, stock to flow, blockchain vs clearing house, validation, etc. I will also touch on Roosevelt's gold confiscation executive order in 1933, transporting gold during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, and the hypothetical cost for Venezuela to repatriate its gold more recently.
I will provide a brief summary first then follow that with the outline I made. This information can be used as a tool for the Bitcoin community to combat some of the silly rhetoric coming from goldbugs such as Peter Schiff and James Rickards. I would like to make it clear, however, that I am not against gold and think that it performed its role as money very well in a technologically inferior era, namely Victorian times but I think Bitcoin performs the functions of money better than gold does in the current environment.
I have been looking to make a contribution to the Bitcoin community and I hope this is a useful and educational tool for everyone who reads this.
Summary:
Shipping/transaction costs: 100 ounces of gold could be shipped for 315 dollars; the comparable dollar value in Bitcoin could be sent for 35 dollars using a non-segwit address. Using historical precendent, it would cost an estimated $32,997,989 to transport $1 billion in gold using the 3.3% fee that the Soviets charged the Spaniards in 1936; a $1 billion Bitcoin transaction moved for $690 last year by comparison. Please note that the only historic example we can provide for moving enormous sums of gold was when the government of Spain transported gold to Moscow during the Spanish Civil War in 1936. More information on this topic will be found in the notes section.
Storage costs: 100 ounces of gold would require $451 per year to custody while the equivalent value of Bitcoin in dollar terms could be stored for the cost of a Ledger Nano S, $59.99. $1 billion USD value of gold would cost $2,900,000 per year while an Armory set up that is more secure would run you the cost of a laptop, $200-300.
Censorship factor: Gold must pass through a 3rd party whenever it is shipped, whether for a transaction or for personal transportation. Gold will typically have to be declared and a customs duty may be imposed when crossing international borders. The key take-away is gatekeepers (customs) can halt movement of gold thus making transactions difficult. $46,000 of gold was seized in India despite the smugglers hiding it in their rectums.
Settlement time: Shipping gold based on 100 ounces takes anywhere from 3-10 days while Bitcoin transactions clear in roughly 10 minutes depending on network congestion and fee size.
Historic confiscation: Franklin Roosevelt confiscated and debased the paper value of gold in 1933 with Executive Order 6102. Since gold is physical in nature and value dense, it is often stored in custodial vaults like banks and so forth which act as a honeypot for rapacious governments.
Stock to flow: Plan B's stock to flow model has become a favorite on twitter. Stock to flow measures the relationship between the total stock of an asset against the amount that is produced in a given year. Currently gold still has the highest value at 62 while Bitcoin sits at 50 in 2nd place. Bitcoin will overtake gold in 2024 after the next halving.
Blockchain vs clearing house: gold payments historically passed through a 3rd party (clearinghouse) in order to be validated while Bitcoin transactions can be self validated through the use of a node.
Key Takeaway from above- Bitcoin is vastly superior to gold in terms of cost, speed, and censorship resistance. One could theoretically carry around an enormous sum of Bitcoin on a cold card while the equivalent dollar value of gold would require a wheelbarrow...and create an enormous target on the back of the transporter. With the exception of the stock to flow ratio (which will flip in Bitcoin's favor soon), Bitcoin is superior to gold by all metrics covered.

Breaking down Venezuela conundrum; http://blogs.reuters.com/felix-salmon/2011/08/23/how-to-get-12-billion-of-gold-to-venezuela/
“The last (and only) known case of this kind of quantity of gold being transported across state lines took place almost exactly 75 years ago, in 1936, when the government of Spain removed 560 tons of gold from Madrid to Moscow as the armies of Francisco Franco approached. Most of the gold was exchanged for Russian weaponry, with the Soviet Union keeping 2.1% of the funds in the form of commissions and brokerage, and an additional 1.2% in the form of transport, deposit, melting, and refining expenses.”
“Venezuela would need to transport the gold in several trips, traders said, since the high value of gold means it would be impossible to insure a single aircraft carrying 211 tonnes. It could take about 40 shipments to move the gold back to Caracas, traders estimated. “It’s going to be quite a task. Logistically, I’m not sure if the central bank realises the magnitude of the task ahead of them,” said one senior gold banker.”
“So maybe Chávez intends to take matters into his own hands, and just sail the booty back to Venezuela on one of his own naval ships. Again, the theft risk is obvious — seamen can be greedy too — and this time there would be no insurance. Chávez is pretty crazy, but I don’t think he’d risk $12 billion that way.”
“Which leaves one final alternative. Gold is fungible, and people are actually willing to pay a premium to buy gold which is sitting in the Bank of England’s ultra-secure vaults. So why bother transporting that gold at all? Venezuela could enter into an intercontinental repo transaction, where it sells its gold in the Bank of England to some counterparty, and then promises to buy it all back at a modest discount, on condition that it’s physically delivered to the Venezuelan central bank in Caracas. It would then be up to the counterparty to work out how to get 211 tons of gold to Caracas by a certain date. That gold could be sourced anywhere in the world, and transported in any conceivable manner — being much less predictable and transparent, those shipments would also be much harder to hijack. How much of a discount would a counterparty require to enter into this kind of transaction? Much more than 3.3%, is my guess. And again, it’s not entirely clear who would even be willing to entertain the idea. Glencore, perhaps?”
“But here’s one last idea: why doesn’t Chávez crowdsource the problem? He could simply open a gold window at the Banco Central de Venezuela, where anybody at all could deliver standard gold bars. In return, the central bank would transfer to that person an equal number of gold bars in the custody of the Bank of England, plus a modest bounty of say 2% — that’s over $15,000 per 400-ounce bar, at current rates. It would take a little while, but eventually the gold would start trickling in: if you’re willing to pay a constant premium of 2% over the market price for a good, you can be sure that the good in question will ultimately find its way to your door. And the 2% cost of acquiring all that gold would surely be much lower than the cost of insuring and shipping it from England. It would be an elegant market-based solution to an artificial and ideologically-driven problem; I daresay Chávez might even chuckle at the irony of it. He’d just need to watch out for a rise in Andean banditry, as thieves tried to steal the bars on their disparate journeys into Venezuela.”

Stacking Loans

So I'm thinking of doing something like this:Use all of my crypto as collateral for a 24 month USDT loan.
Use the loan to buy more crypto and use that as collateral for a 12 month loan.
Use that loan to buy more crypto and use that as collateral for a 12 month loan.
Use that loan to buy more crypto and use that as collateral for a 12 month loan.
etc.
With this I can effectively get a 100% loan to collateral ratio at 7.95% APR. With some loans to be re-payed within 12 months, some to be re-payed within 24 months, it means I can get access to my crypto before the coming bull market ends.
I think that the loan will literally pay for itself and then some. For example, bitcoin needs to go up 7.95% per year for me to break even, but I'm expecting it to go up much more than that.
Has anyone else done this sort of thing? Are there any downsides to this that I'm missing, aside from a crypto market crash?

Some example calculations:
10,000 in BTC -> 5,000 USDT loan -> buy crypto
5,000 in BTC -> 2,500 USDT loan -> buy crypto
2,500 in BTC -> 1,250 USDT loan -> buy crypto
1,250 in BTC -> 625 USDT loan -> buy crypto
That means a loan of 9,375 USD, plus 7.95% interest per year = $735 interest per year.
If everything is repayed in 2 years then it's $10865 total to be repayed
If everything is repayed in 1 year, then it's $10,120 total to be repayed
In the current environment, this kind of loan stacking would break even if BTC reaches roughly 12k in the next 1 to 2 years.

Please recommend me a Seedbox

First off, new to the community. Kind of lost. Getting started with Seedboxes in general. Thanks for the help in advance!
Are you OK with direct message offers from vendors?
YES
What are your main reasons for getting a seedbox?
Plex/rclone/Torrent
Do you have any specific requirements?
Unlimited Bandwidth preferred.
Are you looking for a shared or dedicated solution?
No preference
Are you looking for managed or unmanaged solution?
Managed makes things easier, but unmanaged is fine
Please describe your Seedbox experience:
I got a seedhost.eu Seedbox SH8 seedbox and have run through the bandwidth (1TB) in a few days. Good experience otherwise.
Currently with a provider or used one before?
Just seedhost.eu for the last 4ish days
What is your Linux experience?
Positive. Yes I am comfortable in terminal and manage my storage using rclone, bash scripts and lovely github tools.
What is your monthly budget?
I would like to be conservative but get the job done. $30-$40 USD/month. Less is better but likely unrealistic.
Payment preferences or requirements?
Visa? No preference otherwise. Just don't require me to convert to bitcoin to pay.
Do you need support for public trackers?
Yes. I could do all private but it would eat up the disk space having to maintain the ratio.
Routing: Tell us your continent:
USA
What kind of connection speeds do you need?
1GB/s works 10GB/s preferred
How much monthly bandwidth is needed?
I upload and store to Google Drive as well as seed to maintain ratios. 5TB+ but Unlimited preferred
How much disk space do you need?
2TB+ as content is uploaded to Google Drive after meeting seeding goals. This way I can have 1TB for current downloads and another for long term seeds.
List some features you are looking for:

Axion - A Global Currency, Built To Serve The People

What is Axion? Per Axion's website:

AXION is the answer to our global financial markets that are on the brink of disaster.
The original solution to this impending collapse was Bitcoin, a decentralized peer-to-peer currency. However, since its inception, certain aspects of Bitcoin, such as lack of speed and high fees, have shifted Bitcoin into more of a store-of-value than a currency. Axion is the currency to address that.
With a high-interest time-locked savings account, Participants in the Axion Network are rewarded daily.

How is AXION distributed?

Anyone holding Hex2T (pre-sale) tokens will receive AXION at a rate of 1:1

Hex holders will also receive AXION 1:1, limited at 10M AXION tokens. Hex holders will also be auto-locked for a year, with 2% releasing weekly. More details can be found in the whitepaper. If Hex holders do not claim their AXION tokens, they will become available for purchase in the Daily Auction every week.

The Daily Auction

Putting Tokens and Value into your pocket.

To get Axion, it needs to be claimed by Hex & Hex2T holders, the longer they wait to claim, the more penalties they face. About 2% of their total per week. This 2% is added into a daily auction pool where people can bid using ETH on the Axion tokens within it. If you bid 10% of the ETH on that day, you get 10% of the pool rewards.
80% of the ETH paid in the auction is then used to hyperdrive both the Axion token and the stakers earnings. First, the ETH is used to purchase the tokens, boosting the token price, and then those tokens are distributed to stakers, creating a very strong positive feedback loop.

Axion Vision

Axion is on the path to becoming the ideal global currency.

For the first time in history, inflation is increasing the purchasing power of the people within the network. Axion has partnerships lined up to be integrated in online and in-person payment solutions, where you can pay for nearly everything in your every-day life using Axion. The merchants can accept FIAT (converted from Axion), or Axion itself. This is a global movement.

Axion: Built to Scale

500 Billion Initial Total Supply
1:1 Freeclaim ratio for Hex2T and Hex holders
80% of ETH Earned in auctions is used to buy back tokens
8% Annual inflation that goes Directly to stakers
100% of all purchased tokens Are distributed to stakers
No Auto-Stake For hex2t holders 100% autostake for hex holders

**Video Tutorials:**Metamask Install – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htyEeKNHX5ABuy/Sell Axion (HEX2T) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYZBOkHIM5k
How Do I Buy Axion (HEX2T)?
Step One: Purchase Ethereum from your exchange of choice (Coinbase, Binance, etc). You can also purchase Ethereum through Metamask and have it sent directly to your Metamask wallet (More details on this in Step Three). If buying through Coinbase, you’ll have the option to use a linked bank account or a debit card. Funds purchased via linked bank account will have a hold period while the bank transaction clears, funds purchased via debit card will be available for use instantly.
Step Two: Install the Metamask desktop browser extension and set up your Ethereum Wallet. You may also install the Metamask app on your Android smartphone and follow the same set up process in the linked video. (Apologies iOS users, the iOS Metamask app has restrictions that disable necessary features, you’ll have to use the desktop browser extension)
Step Three: Once you have your Metamask wallet set up and your seed words properly saved, it’s time to deposit Ethereum to your wallet.
– If you’ve purchased Ethereum on an exchange such as Coinbase or Binance, you’ll have to copy your wallet address from Metamask and withdraw the Ethereum from the exchange to your Metamask wallet address that you just copied. Be sure to check the wallet address multiple times before sending as transactions can not be reversed.
– If you’d like to purchase Ethereum directly through Metamask, you can do so using the Wyre fiat gateway that is integrated into Metamask.
Step Four: Now that you have Ethereum in your Metamask wallet, you can head over to our listing on the Uniswap Exchange to purchase Axion (HEX2T). We recommend using Fast GAS to speed up your transactions. You may also have to click on the gear icon in the top right on Uniswap to adjust your slippage limit when buying larger amounts.
– If using the Metamask app on Android, you’ll have to access the in-app browser through the menu (three bars top left of app) and paste the provided link.
– You will see a “From” input that should have ETH as the selected currency pointing to a “To (estimated)” output that should have HEX2T as the selected currency. The “From” input is the amount of Ethereum you will be spending and the “To (estimated)” output is the amount of HEX2T that you will receive for that amount of Ethereum.
– Once you enter the amount of Ethereum you’d like to spend, the button at the bottom of the page should say “Approve”. This “Approve” function allows the exchange to access Ethereum in your wallet, which is necessary to complete this transaction. You’ll click the “Approve” button and the exchange will send a transaction to your wallet, which you will have to confirm. Wait for that Approve transaction to clear and once it does the button should change from “Approve” to “Swap”.
– Now that you’ve given the exchange permission to use the Ethereum in your wallet, you can click the “Swap” button. This will send another transaction to your wallet that you’ll have to confirm. Once that transaction clears, you’ll have successfully purchased HEX2T with Ethereum!
Side Note: If you can’t see the HEX2T that you’ve purchased in your Metamask wallet’s Asset list, you’ll have to add the token to your Asset list. At the bottom of the Asset list you will see an “Add Token” button, click on that and you’ll see a “Search” and a “Custom Token” tab. Click on the “Custom Token” tab and paste the following address (0xed1199093b1abd07a368dd1c0cdc77d8517ba2a0) into the “Custom Token Address” field, the rest of the info should auto-fill. Then click the “Next” button in the bottom right, and it should display your HEX2T balance, click the “Add Tokens” button and you should now see your HEX2T in your Asset list.
**How Do I Sell Axion (HEX2T)?**To sell Axion (HEX2T), you essentially do the inverse of what you did to purchase it.Step One: Head over to Uniswap Exchange and click on ETH in the “From” input, a drop down list will appear and you’ll select HEX2T. In the “To (estimated)” output, click on “Select a Token” and select ETH. To clarify, if you want to sell, HEX2T should be on top, ETH should be on bottom.
Step Two: Enter the amount of HEX2T you’d like to sell in the “From” input, the button at the bottom of the page should say “Approve”. This “Approve” function allows the exchange to access HEX2T in your wallet, which is necessary to complete this transaction. You’ll click the “Approve” button and the exchange will send a transaction to your wallet, which you will have to confirm. Wait for that Approve transaction to clear and once it does the button should change from “Approve” to “Swap”.
– Now that you’ve given the exchange permission to use the HEX2T in your wallet, you can click the “Swap” button. This will send another transaction to your wallet that you’ll have to confirm. Once that transaction clears, you’ll have successfully sold HEX2T for Ethereum!

Axion WHITEPAPER

For newcomers: Criminal charges filed against BitMEX. Why this is a good thing for crypto

BitMEX, a centralized cryptocurrency exchange, was recently charged by the United States CFTC with failing to prevent money laundering and failing to implement other basic compliance procedures. For those unfamiliar with BitMEX: BitMEX is a trading platform that offers investors access to the global financial markets using only Bitcoin. BitMEX is built by finance professionals with over 40 years of combined experience and offers a comprehensive API and supporting tools. Gee, that doesn't sound so bad. Basically, you can buy and sell bitcoin on BitMEX. So what's the big deal? Well, from the BitMEX site: Does BitMEX offer leverage? Yes, BitMEX offers leverage on all of its products. The highest leverage BitMEX offers is up to 100x leverage on its Perpetual Bitcoin / USD Perpetual Contract. Okay, but what is leveraged trading exactly? According to thebalance.com, "100:1: One-hundred-to-one leverage means that for every $1 you have in your account, you can place a trade worth up to $100. This ratio is a typical amount of leverage offered on a standard lot account. The typical $2,000 minimum deposit for a standard account would give you the ability to control $200,000."
  1. And herein lies my first issue with an unregulated exchange like BitMEX. When used in the crypto-space, I think leverage is some fucked up shit. With massive amounts of leverage, whales can manipulate the price of bitcoin while little fish like you and I are at the mercy of the gods. If the whales want to move the price higher, they can coordinate a leveraged 'attack' to increase the price of bitcoin. If they want to drop the price of bitcoin, they can similarly coordinate a massive sell off. This is often visualized as those exaggerated green and red spikes on a trading chart sending the price of bitcoin through lines of resistance or support. This, in turn, can then trigger further exaggerated selloffs. Additionally, inexperienced traders have little to no business trading on leveraged accounts. The vast majority of those who try will walk away in a world of pain carrying a huge loss on their shoulders. But... if some schmuck goes all in on leverage and loses their investment and goes broke, isn't that their fault? Well, yes. That would be a tough pill to swallow, but technically yes, it's their fault. But rather than laugh and point at this person, shouldn't we be encouraging others to embrace cryptocurrency? I think leverage exposes all the wrong things about trading cryptocurrency, yet leverage is exactly how centralized exchanges like BitMEX make their money. This leads me to my second point.
  2. Criminal charges against a centralized exchange facilitates the need for decentralized exchanges. What the hell is a decentralized exchange? From wikipedia: A decentralized exchange (DEX) is a cryptocurrency exchange which operates in a decentralized way, i.e., without a central authority. Decentralized exchanges allow peer-to-peer trading of cryptocurrencies. Because users do not need to transfer their assets to the exchange, decentralized exchanges reduce the risk of theft from hacking of exchanges. Decentralized exchanges can also prevent price manipulation or faked trading volume through wash trading, and are more anonymous than exchanges which implement know your customer requirements. I remember when I first heard about decentralized exchanges I thought to myself... this is going to be huge! But then, no one seemed to share my excitement. Coinbase continued to thrive, followed by the likes of BitMEX and other centralized exchanges. Then, one by one, hack after hack, I finally began to see people move toward decentralized exchanges like uniswap.
I mentioned in another post that we are still in the early stages of crypto development. While bitcoin has been around for over a decade, we are just now beginning to gain traction in other areas of innovation and growth. If there was ever a time to break out of the same corrupt pattern of conventional finance, now is the time!

ERD token holders will now be able to convert their ERD (ERC20) to EGLD directly in the Crypto.com App.
The conversion rate was set at a 1000:1 ratio, 1000 ERD (old) = 1 EGLD (new).The value of 1 EGLD will be 1000x of 1 ERD. Example: 1 ERD = $0.025, 1 EGLD = $25.
With EGLD added to the Crypto.com App, users can now purchase it at true cost with no fees - credit card and bank transfer both supported. As Crypto.com also offers a Visa Card, this adds additional utility to EGLD as users can easily convert cryptocurrencies into fiat currencies and spend at over 60m merchants globally.
Note:- EGLD is not available for residents of the United States.
Update: EGLD is now enabled in the US (Except NY state). Please feel free to go to the app and trade ERD -> EGLD.

Is Convergence the Future of DeFi? InfinityDefi Tells Who Will Dominate the Field

After more than two years of brewing, DeFi broke out in the summer of 2020. Within just three months from mid-June till present, the progress is dazzling. This is by far the most innovative stage in the cryptocurrency history. Liquidity mining and yield farming are extremely popular and the Ethereum gas fee skyrocketed on their backs. Meanwhile, some projects are forced to close due to the overly costly transaction fees they need to subsidize for users. What did classic DeFi projects do in the past six months?
Liquidity mining has been a recognized driver for DeFi. The model was originated by Synthetix on Curve to distribute SNX token incentives to users who provide liquidity for the sUSD pool. Synthetix is a synthetic asset generation and trading protocol, therefore, with no liquidity its synthetic assets are meaningless.
What is liquidity mining? It is depositing or lending tokens under a set of rules to a DeFi product with a mining mechanism to ensure liquidity for the product’s fund pool with the final aim to get rewards for it. The recently popular Compound does it. Compound is a DeFi protocol for collateralized lending on Ethereum. Users provide their tokens to get annualized income or pay interest to borrow tokens. While borrowing and lending, they earn the governance token COMP distributed by a smart contract.
Their token COMP serves for governance and reflects the business value. All borrowers and lenders on Compound earn COMP. The total number of tokens allocated for mining is 4,229,949. Lenders get one half and borrowers get the other half of it. When COMP price rises, the users’ motivation to deposit and borrow money is stronger.
YAM is the initiator of mining + forking. When AMPL came out, there were some imitators but none of them gained mass attention in the crypto community. The only exception is YAM. Why is YAM so attractive? It is a fork of AMPL with YFI‘s issuance mechanism that added a couple of new features such as a reserve and exploded.
YFI is the governance token on https://yearn.finance. It has no pre-mining, ICO, allocation for the team, or reserve for investment institutions. It adopts the online governance model and community decides on its development direction, which is quite fair. Due to its distribution method, YFI is even called the Bitcoin in DeFi.
https://yearn.finance automatically deposit stablecoins and mines liquidity on AAVE, Compound, dYdX, etc. It has a set of revenue tools like ytrade, yliquidate, yleverage, ypool, and smart contract pledge loans. https://yearn.finance aims to simplify the overly complex liquidity mining and automate the operations. It seeks the best profit strategy for asset holders and increases gas usage efficiency for small-scale miners. Even when Ethereum gas fee reached 100 gwei, the deposit and withdrawal fees were around 2 USD.
Sushiswap: The Trend Setter
DEX are the largest chunk of DeFi. The top three are Uniswap, Balancer, and Curve. More than a dozen of DEX has daily trading volume over $10 million. With the rising volume, DEX will be the competition for centralized exchanges (CEX) in the future.
Sushiswap pushes forking + mining. It is a fork of Uniswap with increased token distribution for mining that tried to pull the liquidity carpet from under Uniswap. It has mining pools for stablecoins like USDT, USDC, and DAI as well as Uniswap’s most liquid mainstream DeFi token pools. However, Sushiswap imitators lack originality. Various “food swaps” that appeared recently are bound to enter the death spiral.
Need aggregators? InfinityDefi (INFI) Is What You Need
In the Internet age, aggregators get the most value. Google aggregates the content of websites, Facebook does it with social relationships and content, Amazon with goods and trading, Airbnb with guest rooms, etc. These tech giants have subverted traditional industries and built a near-monopoly position.
Why are they close to monopoly? As more users, content, and products are aggregated, the cost drops and a network effect forms. The wall is high, but the one who crosses it takes all. The same is true for DeFi. It is just a technology on top of a financial arbitrage model, which is cyclic depositing and borrowing to earn interest.
DeFi is modular and trustless and aggregators take advantage of it. Liquidity mining, staking, lending, or DEX AMM are all essentially deposition of tokens to a storage pool to earn revenue. INFI (InfinityDefi) is an aggregate DeFi product, a decentralized digital bank as they call themselves. They are adding a vault with the best investment and value preservation services.
InfinityDefi is a dApp on Ethereum and a cross-chain, multi-currency system with multi-collateral backing. Its Polymerization Pool combines collateral and debts and integrates price feeding, auction, and autonomous management. Users pledge a variety of stablecoins and non-stablecoins to borrow funds. The Pool dynamically adjusts interest rates according to each currency’s ratio in it for higher stability. That is, when the pool is short of ETH, the interest rate earned by ETH pledgers rises.
The protocol is decentralized, transparent, and fair. Besides the standard collateral lending, InfinityDefi lenders can pledge their existing external collateral agreements to other users of the platform as collateral for new loans and better arbitrage. The new (secondary) lender owns the collateral debt. When the lender of the first collateralized loan has an urgent short-term capital demand, it can become a borrower with secondary collateral, sell its creditor’s rights, and get a loan bigger than the original collateral.
InfinityDefi provides secondary loans amounting to 10% of your primary collateral on other platforms. The model is still the traditional “give something as collateral and borrow,” while empowering users and providing more benefits.

Other incentives are equity tokens PPT issued for each loan and collateral (whether primary or secondary). PPT rewards increase with the size and duration of collateral. Conversion of PPT to INFI, the ecosystem token, is available. INFI holders participate in the project management and share the project’s financial risks for stability, transparency, and efficiency, and share profits of the entire ecosystem in return. The respective governance power is proportional to the number of INFI in the voter’s account. INFI aims for listing on major exchanges.

Cyptocurrency pegged to electricity price

Meter.io aims to create a low volatile currency following 10 kwh electricity price.
Meter uses a hybrid PoW/PoS solution; PoW mining for stable coin creation and PoS for txn ordering
  1. MTR is stablecoin soft pegged around the global competitive price of 10 kwh electricity
  2. MTRG is the finite supply governance token, which is used by PoS validators to validate transactions.
Pow mining in Meter is as open and decentralized as in Bitcoin but differs from that in Bitcoin in two fundamental ways
  1. Block rewards are dynamic. It’s determined as a function of pow difficulty. The wining Meter miner will earn more MTR if hash rate is high and less MTR if hash rate is low, ensuring a stable cost of production for each MTR at 10 kWh electricity price using mainstream mining equipment
  2. Miner’s don’t validate transactions. They simply compete to solve PoW. Txn ordering is done by PoS validators who secure the network and in return earn txn fees.
All stablecoins must essentialy have stability mechanisms to account for cases where demand is high and where demand is low. MTR has 2 stability mechanisms set to solve this mission.
Supply side stability mechanism (long term)
First and foremost MTR can’t be produced out of thin air. It’s issuance follows a disciplined monetary policy that solely depends on profit seeking behavior of miners. The only way to issue MTR is via PoW mining. When miners notice that price of MTR is getting higher than the cost to produce them (remember cost of production is always fixed at 10 kwh elec. price = around 0.9-1.2 usd) they will turn on their equipment and start creating new supply. If demand keeps increasing more miners will join, and more MTR will be printed to keep up with demand. Eventually supply will outperfrom the demand and price will get back to equilibrium.
When demand is low and MTR price is dropping below 10 kwh elec. price miners will not risk their profit margin to shrink and switch to mine other coins instead of MTR. In return MTR production will stop and no additional MTR will enter circulation. Given that mining is a competitive, open enviroment, price of MTR will eventually equal to the cost to produce it. (Marginal Revenue = Marginal Cost).
The long term stability is achieved through this unique and simple mechanism at layer 1 which doesn’t require use of capital inefficient collateral, complicated oracles, seignorage shares or algorithmic rebasing mechanisms.
Relative to nation based fiat currencies, switching cost between crytocurrencies is significantly lower. Sudden demand changes in crypto is therefore very common and must be addressed. Huge drop in demand may temporarly cause MTR to get traded below it’s cost of production making pow mining a losing game. How can the system recover from that and restart production? On the contrary, a sudden increase in demand may cause MTR to get traded at a premium making mining temporarly very profitable. Meter has a second layer stability mechanism in order to absorb sudden demand changes.
Demand side stability mechanism (short term)
An on chain auction (will become live in October 2020) resets every 24 hours offering newly minted fixed number of MTRGs in exchange for bids in MTR. Participants bid at no specific price and at the end of auction recieve MTRG proportional to their percentage of total bid. The main purpose of this auction is to consume MTR. A portion of MTR (initally %60) that is bidded in the auction ends up going to a reserve that is collectively owned by MTRG holders, essentially getting out of circulation. Future use of MTR in Reserve can be decided by governance. The remaining %40 gets gradually distributed to PoS validators as block rewards. This reserve allocation ratio can be adjusted via governance depending on the amount of MTR needed to be removed out of circulation at any point in time.
Meter team working to make Meter compatible with other blockchain. In fact both MTR and MTRG can currently be 1:1 bridged to their Ethereum versions as eMTR and eMTRG respectively. In near term, stablecoin MTR is set out on a mission to serve as collateral and a crypto native unit of account for DeFi.

Stop measuring your wallet size in USD and start measuring in terms of REAL ASSETS

I've been considering the recent posts regarding Schiff's definition of real money, the Fed and the Founding Father's definition. Bitcoin, gold and silver meet the standard, while the USD barely scrapes by.
What does the USD have that Bitcoin doesn't? We denominate the real economy in USD.
The USD is backed by the biggest economy in the world. Goods, services, assets, commodities, real estate, precious metals and even crypto are all denominated in USD.
Stop measuring your wallet size in USD - start measuring it in Wheat futures, oil Futures, Gold and Silver.
Therefore, what we ultimately need is a new 'COMEX', a new 'NYSE' - one that is denominated in Bitcoin.
Essentially we can put this into practice ourselves by denoting our crypto profits in REAL ASSETS - when crypto goes up against any of those REAL ASSETS (NOT USD), take profit and buy gold, silver or commodity futures. Whenever Bitcoin is weak against real assets, sell your futures and buy crypto.
A practical way to do this is to use https://www.dailyfx.com/bitcoin charts - eg type XAGUSD/BTCUSD into the symbol field to see the current ratio of SilveBitcoin. This article talks about how to trade ratios and ratio trends: https://www.dailyfx.com/gold-price/trading-the-gold-silver-ratio.html
In addition I strongly recommend accumulating physical bullion - we don't know what will happen to our futures when the economy collapses - but if all the crypto holders have real bullion, we will have the means to rebuild a real economy to back our digital assets.
I've been stacking both crypto and silver since the start of the year, and patting myself on the back for it. Now I'm learning to trade Bitcoin off real assets to accumulate both. Ultimately I'd like to see someone start an exchange denominated in Bitcoin - but it is already possible to do something like that via a CFD exchange - just take your signals from dailyfx.com

Please recommend me a seedbox - large-ish storage on good network

Recommendation form
Are you OK with direct message offers from vendors?
NO but you can reply here and ask me for DM
What are your main reasons for getting a seedbox?
I run rtorrent, plex, sonarr, a couple of other things
Do you have any specific requirements?
The seedbox I am looking to replace (price jump) has 32GB of RAM and 32TB disk. I am not hurting for ratio so I could go to 16GB RAM and give up the pagecache. I'd like to compare options between 32T and 16T
Are you looking for a shared or dedicated solution?
Dedicated.
Are you looking for managed or unmanaged solution?
Unmanaged. I want to do everything - starting with installing the OS - myself. A slight plus to a hoster who can advise on seedbox tuning (advise me ... not do it)
Please describe your Seedbox experience:
Good?
Currently with a provider or used one before?
Yes - down to two seedboxes and this would be to replace the deep-storage one. I've had up to 4 going at a time with different providers in the past. Consider my post as a 'market check' from somebody who understands this space but hasn't looked around in a year or two.
What is your Linux experience?
Scale of 1 to 10 - I'm 11
What is your monthly budget?
could pay 100 USD but would prefer 50
Payment preferences or requirements?
Nothing strong - cc, paypal, bitcoin fine. Would like to avoid monthly toil to pay - automatic billing is good. I am ok with quarterly or annual if I trust the provider.
Do you need support for public trackers?
No.
Routing: Tell us your continent:
North America
What kind of connection speeds do you need?
1GB is fine
How much monthly bandwidth is needed?
I can fit in 100TB
How much disk space do you need?
32 would be equivalent to current box. 24 might be sweet spot but would look at 16
List some features you are looking for:
Dedicated server in europe - 16g 16t minimum - prefer 24 or 32 full control from os install up - assume I'm using a non-debian variant
Anything else you think we should know?
I think I got it all - so summary: This box isn't for racing - it's deep storage. It only joins torrents that I've already completed on another seedbox, or sonarradarr wishlist items which are ok with a little delay to join.

FED raised interest rates, Vietnam peaked

FED raised interest rates, Vietnam peaked
The latest developments from the US interest rate policies do not have much influence on Vietnam.
The home loan interest rate of 5% will be applied from 1/1/2018
Interest rates will stabilize and tend to decrease
Stable interest rate expectation
Solution of interest rate management with economic growth target
Improve the financial capacity of Vietnamese commercial banks
The move was not unexpected

https://preview.redd.it/ckstv10yk2u51.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd8ff091fd35ceac3de6d68a18b06dbf838afc77
The US Federal Open Market Commission (FOMC) ended 2017 with the third prime rate hike for the year, to 1.5%. This move did not surprise the international financial world, as the market had been forecasted in advance. Similarly, the latest developments from the US have not affected Vietnam much, even through 2017.
According to SSI Securities Company, the Fed rate hike did not have any noticeable impact on the global market, as the market has "absorbed" this move since September, after two adjustments of Fed this year.
The Fed's interest rates often directly affect interest rates and exchange rates in Vietnam. However, from the beginning of the year until now, interest rates and exchange rates have not changed much. According to the report of the National Financial Supervisory Commission on the economic situation in the first 11 months of the year, the interest rates of ordinary loans are popular at 9.3-11% for terms of 6 months or more. While the ceiling interest rate for short-term loans in 5 priority areas is 6.5%.
Place of credit conversion transaction: btc to paypal
Meanwhile, according to the State Bank branch report. In Ho Chi Minh City, the central bank's operating interest rate in 2017 tended to decrease. Specifically, the refinancing rate decreased by 25 basis points, to 6.25%; paper discount rate has a similar decrease, to 4.25%.
The exchange rate market also exhibits an unusual "quiet" compared to every year. Accordingly, the central rate increased by 1.27% compared to the end of 2016. And the exchange rate on the free market decreased by 1.38% (the selling rate), according to the State Bank branch in HCMC. Ho Chi Minh. According to SSI's statistics in the assessment report on the latest interest rate hike by the Fed, the exchange rate remains unchanged on the official market around 22,700 VND / USD, almost unchanged so far.

The reason why the market becomes so peaceful? In the international market, although the Fed tends to narrow monetary policy, the dollar is slightly lower than other currencies. Bloomberg's statistics show that the dollar has depreciated more than 7% against a basket of other major currencies in 2017 and is also the strongest decline in more than a decade.
The supply of USD is plentiful
The weak dollar in the international market also eased the pressure to devalue as we often saw many years ago. But the more important reason, it is because the supply of USD suddenly becomes more abundant than ever.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, by the end of November, Vietnam had a record trade surplus since 2006 (the time of joining the WTO) with 3.72 billion USD. On December 21, 2017, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Le Minh Hung said that the foreign exchange reserve fund had reached a record level of 48 billion USD, but in the last days of 2017, a new record was made: 51.5 billion USD. And Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, Deputy Director of the State Bank branch in City. Ho Chi Minh City, forecast amount of remittances poured into the city this year is estimated at 5.2 billion USD, up 200 million USD compared to last year.
However, there is still concern, as USD deposit rates in Vietnam have remained at 0% for more than 2 years. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh said that the Fed's move of 3 times to raise interest rates and is likely to continue to increase in 2018 has created some certain impacts, including foreign currency bleeding. According to Mr. Minh, experts and business circles should raise USD deposit interest rates to help the banking system take advantage of the greenback.
However, representatives of the State Bank of Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh also said that maintaining USD deposit interest rates at 0% has had many positive effects attached, typically many people switch from USD to VND savings.
During the whole year, the liquidity in the bank was stable and did not change much. According to recent observations of SSI, deposit rates started to increase slightly from November and this trend continues in December. “It is a cyclical factor. “Liquidity is a bit volatile in December, but it is mainly a cyclical factor. Banks may need more deposits to improve their safety ratios or to meet credit needs, ”said the SSI report.
In 2018, the Fed maintains tightening monetary policy with the expectation that interest rates will continue to increase by 2 percentage points and 2.5 percentage points in 2019. 2018 is also the time when Fed Chairman Janet Yellen will The seat must be given to Jerome Powell, who is currently voting in agreement with current Fed policies.
Financial markets in 2018 are also expected to be more volatile with more investment products attracting capital flows in the market like cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. However, Ms. Yellen confirmed that the Fed has no plans to consider issuing a similar currency, nor is it that Bitcoin.

Will a higher price of bitcoin allow higher usd value transaction move quicker?

I tried looking at the block explorer and see sat/B is different and current USD might no matter, since a $314.27 block 191bytes have a lower sat/B ratio compared to a $247.72 block 226 byte. The $314.27 did pay a lower a fee.
This question came Brad Garlinghouse from 2017 talking about how people would love to see XRP price higher, since it would be better to move money faster.
So wouldnt a higher bitcoin usd price be better for doing transactions, since the idea is it wouldn't cost as many bytes to put in a block and you could fill the block up with more transactions.
